Hyundai’s N-Line brings sporting impression to i30 range

Following the successful launch of Hyundai’s first car to wear the high-performance ‘N’ badge (the i30N), states Iain Robertson, the South Korean car company is extending its portfolio of models, by introducing a sportier N-Line trim across Europe.

The i30 N-Line is the first Hyundai model to feature the enhanced trim, with both exterior and interior design elements ‘pinched’ from the specialised i30N but aimed at enhancing the visual appeal of i30. It is a move not dissimilar to VW adding R-Line to its models. Hyundai’s mechanical set-up, which includes suspension, brakes and engine responses, has also been tuned to add extra spice to the regular i30 five-door.

The design upgrades for i30 N-Line match several elements introduced on the i30N. Among them are the front and rear bumpers, accented exclusively for N-Line with a silver paint line. The 18-inch alloy wheels are made available on the i30 5-door for the first time, creating a more dynamic appearance. The new twin exhaust outlets are another design cue that marks out the i30 N-Line from its siblings. On the front wings, a newly-created badge highlights the N-Line designation.

In terms of interior, customers can choose N-branded suede sport seats for better lateral support. The perforated leather, sports steering wheel and the N gear-shift knob give the driver a more engaging driving experience. The spacious and practical interior of the regular i30 five-door still offers a comfortable space for all occupants.

PS4 Michelin Performance tyres are fitted, while enlarged front brakes enhance the i30 N-Line’s sportier character. Customers of the i30 N-Line can choose between the 1.4-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine that develops 137bhp and the refined 1.6-litre CRDi turbo-diesel unit with 133bhp.

Hyundai Motor Europe, suggests that broadening the appeal of its already highly acceptable i30 range, will factor in the firm’s high-performance engineering potential, while emotionalising the brand with a fun-to-drive aspect. The comprehensive package of design and engineering enhancements will continue to attract more new customers to the Hyundai brand in Europe.

To celebrate the N-Line trim, Hyundai has created a new and fun video clip that highlights the design and engineering package of the new car. Featuring motorsport legend Gabriele Tarquini, who is Hyundai Motorsport’s current test driver and a hugely successful touring car racer, the clip provides a first glimpse of the i30 N-Line: https://youtu.be/pqe6ebvhKPE.

With great driving precision, Tarquini positions his i30 N-Line in exactly the right spot to catch the drops of chilli sauce on his burger, adding spice to his food in the same way that N-Line trim spices up the regular i30.
