“We are fully committed to Armed Forces personnel, not only in the service that we offer and the people that we employ, but we are intrinsically linked through our own military backgrounds and our need to ensure that our fellow troops continue to receive the best services and opportunities.” Explains Steve Thornton, Forces Cars Direct Managing Director.
The ERS Silver Award is presented to select organisations who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and proactively demonstrate support for service personnel; employ people from the Armed Forces community and offer a positive employment policy and environment towards defence people.
Paul Harrison, a Sales Advisor Forces Cars Direct and ex-RAF Police, said “I have had a few jobs since leaving the RAF, but have greatly missed the military environment. Being part of the Forces Cars Direct team has been the only workplace where I have been embraced into a close-knit team with like-minded people, who have similar military attachments. Our Managing Director is the only manager I have since worked for who understands military life and brings a personal, understanding nature to his management style.
I have rejoined 1260 Air Training Corps Sqn as an instructor, and later in the year intend to become a uniformed member of staff, all of which I can do alongside my employment.”
About Forces Cars Direct
Forces Cars Direct was established in 2001 by ex-Army AAC soldier, Steve Thornton, to offer specialist sales and discounts on new cars to serving and ex-serving Armed Forces personnel and in this time, we have saved our customers just under £50 million as a whole to date. In addition to offering this service, we employ many ex-service personnel and also members who are connected to the Armed Forces in another way.
We have contributed and participated in many Armed Forces events, including Armed Forces Day celebrations and other fund raising events, and continuously work to help the military community through our partnership with the Forces Pension Society and other military associates. We are now also working with Ant Middleton, former Special Forces, as our Brand Ambassador.
