Forces Car Company Becomes ‘Scotty's Business Hero’ To Bereaved Armed Forces Children

Forces Cars Direct, a Lincoln-based automobile supplier for the British Military, has today become a Scotty’s Business Hero – a new initiative set up to help raise vital funds for children’s Armed Forces charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

Founder and Managing Director of Forces Cars Direct, Steve Thornton, is proud to become one of the primary members of Scotty’s Business Heroes. The initiative, which has been set up by the charity, is aimed at businesses and organisations who are keen to give a little back and make a difference to those who have lost a parent whilst serving in the Armed Forces.

Founded by war widow Nikki Scott in 2010, Scotty’s Little Soldiers supports children across the UK. The charity was set up in memory of Nikki’s husband and father to her two children, Corporal Lee Scott, after he was killed in Afghanistan in 2009.

Steve is an ex-soldier who served with 4 Regt AAC, 669Sqn in Iraq. The business, which was established in 2001, works under the ethos of saving money for military folk. Steve has made it a priority for his company to give back to the military community, whether serving, ex-military or retired.

Aware of Scotty’s Little Soldiers for some time, on becoming a Scotty’s Business Hero Steve commented: “To join Scotty’s Business Heroes is something we’re enormously proud of at Forces Cars Direct. The company’s military background obviously means that we can relate to such an amazing cause. Many of our employees are ex-military or have family who have served, therefore we know the importance of looking after the children of those comrades who have not made it back home.”

Scotty’s Business Heroes is a new venture aimed at companies of all sizes. It gives businesses the opportunity to support the charity through a number of means and allows them to become part of an exclusive club in which they’ll be able to take part in networking, events, fundraising challenges, social media activity and work closely with the charity.

Charity founder, Nikki Scott, added: “We’re hugely grateful for the support of Steve and Forces Cars Direct. They’re a company who share the same values as us and are part of the military family; it’s fantastic that they’ve joined Scotty’s Business Heroes and we’re hoping this helps inspire others to do the same. Our mission is to put smiles back on the faces of those who have lost a parent in the Armed Forces and with the support of companies such as Forces Cars Direct we can continue to give our members the support they need.”
