For many years, both Peugeot and Citroen ruled the estate car ranks, alongside Renault, for producing long-bodied estate cars. While the archetypal SUV has assumed many of the load-lugging requirements of both businesses and private owners, traditional estate cars, or station wagons (as they were also known), continue to be a popular niche choice.
In response to the sales of high-end versions of both the Volvo V60 and Vauxhall Insignia Tourer, Peugeot will commence sales of its newcomer towards the end of the year. Based on the high-end GT trim level, the all-new 508 SW First Edition is available to order now. It comes with some unique styling details, including a gloss black grille surround and 19.0-inch ‘Augusta’ diamond-cut, two-tone alloy wheels, with tinted varnish finish. The new model will be available in two colours for UK buyers: Twilight Blue and Amazonite Grey.
Further enhancing its dynamic character, the all-new 508 SW First Edition features a mistral black roof lining, blue ambient mood lighting, aluminium pedals and doorsills complete with model inscription. For further exclusivity, the bootfloor is lined with a luxurious Zebrano wood finish, with anti-slip bars. The car is powered by a choice of WLTP-approved engines and transmissions; the 1.6L PureTech 225 S&S EAT8 and 2.0L BlueHDi 180 S&S EAT8.
Keen to impress, the premium feel of the all-new First Edition Peugeot is supplemented by carbon effect trim and ‘wrap around’ seating trimmed in fine grade Nappa leather, in a choice of mistral black or red, both with intricate double-stitch detail. Not shy on technology, Night Vision, Peugeot’s first application in the automotive D-segment, allows the driver to detect living obstacles in front of the vehicle at night, within a range of up to 200m beyond the scope of full-beam headlights.
Naturally, inductive smartphone charging, DAB digital radio and a 10.0-inch HD capacitive touchscreen, complete with Connected 3D Navigation and voice recognition, are included. For further entertainment, the car comes with the Focal high-fidelity sound system and offers exclusive wireless headphones, designed by the Peugeot Design Lab, that allow the driver to continue the audio experience outside the car.
